Vic Firth LW Live Wire Brushes

Vic Firth offers a broad variety of “brushes” to deliver a traditional sound or create bold new sound colors. Each model makes its own musical statement and provides the opportunity for an extensive range of effects.

Featuring a small round bead on the tip of each wire, the Live Wires retractable brush is a revolutionary new brush that allows the player to create much louder brush sounds than ever before! Manufactured with a unique and proprietary method, the bead and wire are produced from a single strand which eliminates parts that could come loose over time. Heavy gauge wire improves the balance and rebound, and smooth rubber makes the handle comfortable and easy to grip. The retractable pull-rod allows for a variety of settings.

  • Features heavy gauge wires with an added bead on each for more volume and snap around the kit
  • Retractable brushes with a smooth grip in an eye-catching finish
  • Series : Brushes

VIC FIRTH

VIC FIRTH

Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and is today the world's largest manufacturer of first quality drumsticks and mallets.

The company began when Mr. Firth, who had been performing with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 12 years, was asked to perform pieces which he felt required a higher-quality drumstick than those that were currently being manufactured. So, Vic decided to design a set of his own sticks.

Vic hand-whittled the first sticks himself from bulkier sticks and sent these prototypes to a wood turner in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The two prototypes that he sent would become the SD1 and SD2, the first two models of sticks manufactured by Vic Firth, Inc.

Vic said, "It came out of necessity, not of imagination or my ability to start a company." Although the sticks were initially intended for Vic's personal use, they gained popularity among his students and were eventually carried by retailers.
